Thank you for your interest in helping out the WDAY World War II Honor Flight. The Adopt a Vet project is really very simple. We are asking schools, service clubs, businesses and individuals to either directly donate to, or to run a specific fundraiser with the purpose of raising money to donate to, the WDAY World War II Honor Flight. We are coordinating the effort with two objectives in mind. The first is to raise money for the Honor Flight. The second is to ask our donors to help us contact other groups like yours to build a larger donor base and help spread the effort out to more people and areas. To adopt a Veteran all you have to do is either make a direct donation to the Honor Flight of $750.00 or you can run a dedicated fundraiser which will also help raise community awareness of the project. All we ask is that if you are planning on running a fundraiser you let us know what type of fundraiser you are planning and when you plan on holding it. By informing us of your plans it will help us better track and project our fundraising needs. In addition to that, WDAY Radio may be able to help you promote your event. Finally, when a fundraiser is done we would like to know how things went and if you did it again, what would you do differently. It will help us - help others with their fundraising efforts. As for "adopting" a specific person, we cannot release any names of people who have signed up for the trip. What we are doing however, is letting organizations, individuals, etc. Donate in "In Honor of" and "In Memory of" someone. We will then incorporate that into our "Adopt a Vet" list of participants to be published in the Forum newspaper at the conclusion of the Honor Flight project.
