United Patriotic Body meeting

Meeting called to order at 1900 by Commander Richardson, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Present were Ron Durand, Dave Johnston, Terry Richardson, Ed Milligan, Bob Long, Bob Jacobson, Kathy Handy, Dave Rice, Jim Haukedahl. There were no additions or corrections to Aug.28, 2008, meeting. Motion was made by Jacobson, seconded by Milligan to accept the August minutes. Motion carried.

Treasures report was given by Long. Regular checking account has a balance of $2,711.89; special account has a balance of $17,786.56. $10.000 has been paid on account for the new sign with a balance due of $17,328. Special account will stay active after the bridge sign is paid for. The extra money in this account will be used for putting military seals on the bridge. Motion was made by Milligan for dedication of the new bridge sign on June 14, 2009. Motion was seconded by Handy and was carried.

Veterans Day ceremonies will began with a wreath laying at the Veterans Memorial Bridge. Possible short ceremony at the bridge before the parade starts.

Discussion was held about teaming up with West Funeral Home about having a picnic for the WWII veterans on the Honor Flight. Suggestion was also made to recognize the Honor Flight Committee. Discussion still pending.

Next meeting will be at the Fargo American Legion. Date and time are pending based on the need of the Bridge.

Pancake feed November 15 at Applebee's in Fargo. Time is 0800 to1030
Pancake feed December 7, at the Fargo American Legion 1000 to 1300
American Legion Oratorical competition December 16, Fargo Legion
Amvets breakfast New Year's day at Fargo Amvets
Veterans Day, SOS at Fargo Amvets; Stew at Fargo Legion; Golden Corral, free meal for Veterans on November 17, from 1700 to 2100.

Election of officer's was held, with the following people elected to their respective offices: Terry Richardson, Commander; Ed Milligan, Vice Commander; Bob Long, Treasurer; Jim Haukedahl, Secretary.

The next meeting will be held at the Fargo American Legion. Commander Richardson will notify members as to the date.
Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Milligan and seconded by Handy. Motion carried. Motion adjourned at 1947.
